Keeping up with the Airs

As we continue the NZNBL off-season, a large contingent of your Taranaki Airs will play vital roles with their ANBL teams. Keep an eye on our boys throughout the 2024/25 NBL season as they compete for the championship.

Flynn Cameron

Flynn Cameron – Melbourne United

Flynn returns to Melbourne for another campaign with Melbourne United Basketball Club, hellbent on getting that title. He heads into the 2024/25 NBL hip.season on the back an impressive ’24 season with the Airs, which included THAT clutch 3 to take us into OT in the semi-final against the Rams.

Averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals, Flynn was instrumental for us all year. We loved having him in Taranaki and can’t wait to see him compete in the NBL.

Sam Froling – Illawarra Hawks

2024 has been a big year for Sam. After taking the Hawks to the 2023/24 NBL playoffs, he came to the Taranaki Airs and instantly became a fan favourite.

Sam averaged 21.7 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists during the season and was rewarded with an NBA Summer League contract with the Indiana Pacers.

He was named a co-captain of the Illawarra Hawks Basketball this season as he looks to bring a title to the 'Gong.

Carlin Davison & Mitch McCarron – New Zealand Breakers

The BNZ Breakers will have an Airs feel to it this NBL  season as Matua Mitch joins Carlin in Auckland.

Carlin took another leap forward this year, averaging 17.1 points, 8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals. The dunk package was again elite but his defensive efforts and playmaking were just as spectacular.

The first import signed for our '24 season, Mitch is the ultimate professional and became an amazing leader to our young squad from day 1. With season averages of 9.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.4 steals, there's no surprise Matua was named a co-captain of the Breakers.

It's going to be alot of fun watching these boys throughout the 2024/25 NBL season, especially when the Breakers come to New Plymouth.

Sam Mackinnon – South East Melbourne Phoenix

It's not just the players we should be keeping an eye on during this off-season. Coach is back with a new look South East Melbourne Phoenix for their tilt at the 2024/25 NBL Championship.

In his first season at the helm of the Airs, Sam set a high standard, leading us to our most ever wins in the regular season and driving positive change amongst the playing group and coaches.

We look forward to having him back in 2025, as we aim to continue building something special.
